Ques. What are your college year and subject?
Ans. I joined the college in 2020 just after the beginning of the pandemic. I am pursuing BMS from Ramanujan College.
Ques. You are a co-founder of Sava hire. Tell us something about the same.
Ans. Sava hire is a community that helps interns to source to other startups. What we do is build a community and source them with other startups. We started with a basic community of cotton traders, we expanded it to 2600 people and started sourcing them to the startups. We are a community of content creators and blockchain developers who help other startups hire interns.
Ques. Whose idea it was and how did you decide to co-founded it with Salik and Ayush. How did you guys meet?
Ans. After I left my part-time job at an HR tech company, I had a lot of time to decide on what should I go for next. After 2 days, I came across an email which wanted me to do a post about their bags on my LinkedIn. I replied to them as sure and sent them my address, but they never got back to me. That kind of pinched me, and I asked myself do people care about micro-influencers and the next thing I did was make a community of content creators, which we did for 2 weeks. We have 21 people with more than 1000 followers on the LinkedIn page. After 2 weeks, we turned this community into a startup that would help startups to hire talent. In about 6 weeks, more than 2000 people were placed. We have worked with more than 75 companies in the past couple of months. We have been in existence for about 3 months but operational for the past 2 months. The time from which we are operational we are making good revenue from our services. We are yet to launch a product. We also have an arm in blockchain hiring using the same method as content creators. I met Salik through LinkedIn. I have known him for 2 years now. He is the guy I will go to if I am thinking about a startup. Ayush is more from a web development field. Currently, he is building on the dashboards on our websites. He is the most efficient guy.
Ques. What was your first step when the idea strike in your mind?
Ans. I just made a discord channel. Though, Sava hire is not registered. You ask yourself the key metric of success for you. For us, first, it was the number of communities, then it changed to the startups we were in touch with till we reached the number of the interns we placed in the startups. Just find yourself a metric that you want to look at. It could be the simplest thing such as finishing a blog post. Don’t think too much, just do it. I am extremely chaotic in planning things but If I really want to do it, I’ll do it. Partnering for me was a leap of faith. If something is your priority, you’ll do it. Curiosity with action is hunger. And yes, we were hungry. We had a scenario like summer vacations in Phineas and Ferb. We are a bunch of kids running around. Every week I renounce my team. We have 5 people in the team, 3 co-founders, and 2 are working as partner employees, Shivani and Aditya. Shivani handles the community stuff and Aditya is good at everything, though he majorly manages operations he is good at tech, coding, and everything. I renounced that today if we go back to our lives and dissolve Sava Hire, it won’t make a difference. If you are not enjoying anything, don’t do it. I do it because I have fun doing it. Making money isn’t tough but having fun while working is.
Ques. How did you come up with the name Sava Hire? Is there any particular reason behind it?
Ans. No there isn’t any reason. There is a completely different story behind it. When we met for the first time, we have been calling it Sava Hire. It didn’t really mean anything. We were searching for the names and got samosa hire as perspective names, we didn’t end up renaming it as the same. But in the future, I am surely going to use this name. The Sava didn’t really mean anything and we didn’t want to spend more time deciding things that really don’t matter. If you have the right intentions on the services, then people obviously will start to relate your name with something nice. We are still using the logo we made first on Canva.
Ques. Are you planning to register in the near future?
Ans. Yes, we are planning to register it. We want to look at its legal process later on.
Ques. What are your career plans?
Ans. Yes, I plan to expand my capital at the Sava. But most probably after I complete my BMS. There is a lesser chance that I drop out of my bachelor's. As I want to try for some of the IIM's later. The next 5 months are very important for the Sava as he planned for the product. To be very honest I don’t know what to pursue now. I learned machine learning which then I quit learning growth marketing. I am also in HR tech stuff. I am exploring a lot of things. I have no idea what I am going to do.
Ques. It’s been said everywhere around that do what makes you happy. Did you feel like quitting for questioning yourself that why did I even start this in these 3 months?
Ans. Yes, there have been moments where I have felt that I was doing alright studying psychology minor. Why did I even get into this? After I quit my job because they were expanding the team and I didn’t want to overburden myself with stress. Then when I handled a department at the Sava, that was also kind of overburdening but that wasn’t stressful. I think there is always another new thing to pursue instead of stressing yourself. There have always been stressful moments but nothing in life will ever make sense. So, you should keep doing in life what you want to do until you frustrate out of your mind and feels like “This Is It”.
Ques. Are you doing anything other than the Sava?
Ans. I have done a bunch of internships. Firstly, I started learning coding for 1.5 years. I spent 1 year in machine learning then I started working at AI crowd where I worked in departments from community management and growth. For the majority of this time, I was working at AI Crowd. Then, I realized I need to spend more time at the Sava. Currently, I am not interning anywhere.
Ques. How did you reach the position you are today?
Ans. 1. I first chose BBE but then changed to BMS as BBE requires intense studies and BMS can be managed easily.
2. I learned coding and machine learning.
3. I did a full-time job with AI Crowd.
4. Using my previous knowledge, skills and experiences, I founded Savahire, a community that helps interns to the source to other startups with my friends Ayush and Salik.
Ques. Are you part of any college society?
Ans. I was initially part of the entrepreneurship cell but then I had to quit that there is a lot of work to do. I am not that into college societies.
Ques. Any advice you would like to give to your peers or juniors?
Ans. Just be curious. Piss of a lot of people. It helps you do stuff without taking any permission. A lot of people ask for permission and want their family and friends to nod before starting some things. If you are curious, piss a lot of people, don’t ask for permission, though you can apologize later as it works out. Our society is very restrictive. It is nowhere near what the current world looks like. Talk to really good people. Approach them on LinkedIn. Fight the bubbles near you. What DU has created is a comfortable bubble around people that is far away from reality.
