Question 1: Can you briefly describe yourself?
Answer: Hello everyone, myself Vishwas Giri currently in 2nd year, pursuing Bcom Honours from SRCC. I am currently pursuing CA and I have already cleared CA foundation. Additionally, I was part of 7 societies in the first year but currently I am in just 1 society, which is the book club.
Question 2: As you are the author of the bestselling novel ‘Your Tally Mate’, what was your writing process like and how did you overcome the challenges you face?
Answer: As I began writing my second book, the author's mood really started to come through. To improve my typing speed, I organised and marked all the important points on my laptop as I was studying the tally at the time. When I finished, I decided to publish this, so I made some pertinent adjustments in it.
Question 3: What were the challenges you faced during this course of time?
Answer: My first book, "Your Tally Mate," wasn't exactly an immediate bestseller when I finished it. Nevertheless, I remained committed to writing my second novel, "The Last Night," as I enjoy literature and am active in my college's book club. My affinity for books meant that I had to put in approximately 13 or 14 hours in order to complete my book. It was difficult at times, especially mentally, but my family was there for me no matter what.
Question 4: With your work, what gaps and knowledge will you be able to fulfil in your field?
Answer: Indian readers, in my opinion, have the misconception that Indian authors always use the same tone and genre while writing books, regardless of whether the books are based on states or general subjects. For example, readers often pick up on the consistent tone example in which Chetan Bhagat writes. Many lesser-known authors have novels that you should all strive to read. I was determined to write a book of my own to provide diversity and effect change in a society.
Question 5: In your journey of literature, you also secured the position of runner- up in a poetry writing competition?
Answer: Since I enjoy writing poetry, one of my friends gave my name for this competition, which was organised by the Ministry of Culture and took place in 2022. Writing poetry revolving around science was a challenge for me as I usually write on social causes and love. I had to find rhymes in everyday words, which made it difficult. Luckily, the poem turned out well because it discussed the advancement of science in India.
Question 6: Since now you are the president of The Book Club in SRCC. How has your journey been so far on the change from junior to president?
Answer: To be elected to a high position, proving your commitment, abilities, and willingness to make changes is the first and most important step. As the person with the broad understanding in the past, I changed things by forming teams based on subjects like history or geopolitics. It will therefore be simple for every team member to go deeper into a book that is related to these genres when it comes time for the team to debate it.
Question 7: As you have achieved remarkable ranks in olympiads, what were your techniques or strategies to achieve this?
Answer: To excel in every field, in my opinion, requires more than just a skill set. My selection as a Reliance Founder's scholar occurred recently, and since then, I've come to realize that while everyone has the necessary skill set to succeed, time management is crucial when taking aptitude or assessment tests. In my instance, I experienced a black screen for about thirty minutes during the Reliance Test; fortunately, I overcame it and managed my time effectively, which led to my selection for this scholarship.
Question 8: Apart from all these achievements, you also managed to be a finalist in Rescon 2.0. What was your topic of research and how was it important to your field?
Answer: I am from SRCC, so aside from literature, I have a passion for finance. I was assigned research on DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). I was given this topic to research, and I had to do it. Even though I specialize in finance, there wasn't much information on this subject, but when you take the time to study something, you usually learn everything by doing your own research. Your knowledge is elevated by research; you discover a great deal of information that you were previously unaware of.
Question 9: While doing research, did you collaborate with any mentor or any other person. If yes, what was your approach towards teamwork?
Answer: I was accompanied by two of my friends when I participated. As a result, work was made easier by teamwork as each of us created a research paper on our own on the topic ‘free speech’, which we then combined into a single research paper by adding, subtracting, and molding specific points. This was the strategy that got us to the finals by steering us through the research process.
Question 10: During this journey, you must have received great feedback and also criticism. How did you do with all of this?
Answer: Whether it is constructive or destructive criticism is dependent upon which kind we receive. Even if we receive criticism, we must decide which of those feedback will be helpful to us going ahead. We have to think first, and then decide which of these criticisms will help us become better versions of ourselves. For example, we were told to present our research in a refined manner rather than in its raw form when we gave it. Thus, this was one of the helpful criticisms that helped us improve for the future.
Question 11: What advice would you like to give to your juniors, in order to become achiever like you?
Answer: Select an area of interest and explore internships or societies that pique your interest. For greater chances, make an effort to keep your CGPA decent. Follow your own instinct or pursue your passion. You will only succeed in the field you select as a result of this.
