Tushar Jain|Shaheed Bhagat Singh College|B.com(Honours)| Batch of 2023

Question 1: Kindly brief us about yourself.

Answer: Hello, my name is Tushar Jain, and I am originally from Sirsa, Haryana, but I currently reside in New Delhi. In terms of education, I am a B.com graduate of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Delhi University. I work as an Audit Associate at KPMG Global Services. During my college years, I handled everything from establishing student societies to launching my YouTube channel, which tries to provide students with information about DU academics. I've managed to build a sizable community on LinkedIn and Instagram over time.Having built a team of 20+ members to grow DU Buzz, I have expanded my love for content creation. Apart from this, I am also into Event Management.

Question 2: As you said, your side venture is Content Creation. How did you get into this field when it was such an opposite aspect than what you had studied in bachelors?

Answer: If I have to talk about my journey, it all started during Covid. To avoid a gap in my studies, I started a youtube channel teaching Business Studies. That was an experience that made me learn about my strengths and weaknesses. This also pushed me towards Content Creation and establishment of DU Buzz, to help the students with my experience about DU. I had gained experience of three societies in my first year, namely Finance(Member of External Relation), Rotaract(Public relations) and NSS. The integration of these skills actually helped me to escalate DU Buzz reach. I achieved milestones by becoming a media sponsor for more than two hundred colleges and even set-up our stalls in multiple events. I have come to a point where I can create content at any point of the day irrespective of other commitments. From my first channel ‘Easy to Learn’ to ‘Tushar Jain’ to finally ‘DU Buzz’ my passion for Content Creation has only increased exponentially.

Question 3 : What exactly is DU Buzz all about?

Answer: Categories included while posting content includes admission updates, college societies, internships, forecasts regarding recent cut-offs for competitive exams. So, basically I focus on three aspects, firstly career development, secondly guidance about admissions and lastly, college life guide.

Question 4: You have achieved a lot in your whole college life. What was your most coveted achievement?

Answer: There were many such moments, but the very first one was when we successfully conducted an ‘Open Mic’ competition in Spark Mall, Kamla Nagar Market. At that time, conducting that event was a real challenge as my team consisted solely of first years. I had a blurry idea of event management and the offline classes had recently begun after Covid. Leaving home for the first time and organizing an event like this was not a piece of cake. Location, sponsorships, permissions from police officers was truly a reality check. I had never imagined that I would have my own team, from hiring interns to becoming team-members, I have found my extended family. This event had a huge positive impact both on me and my family members.

Question 5: I have realized that your family supports you in all situations. So what impact did they have on you?

Answer: When I think of my family, the first thing that comes to mind is that I've never felt like I wasn't given a helping hand when I needed it the most. The end outcomes demonstrate that whatever I was doing was correct. My family had no objections because I had maintained my studies alongside all other extracurricular interests. My mother would occasionally question why I put so much work into my YouTube channel, but there was no interference or barrier from their end. So this was something I'd be thankful for. From DU Buzz to hiring interns I had discussed everything with them and it feels relaxing to know that my biggest supporters are my parents themselves.

Question 6: Have you ever thought about making DU Buzz or content creation your full time job?

Answer: Content creation is my love, but I won't limit myself to only DU Buzz because it will become a well-defined field. If I want to broaden my reach, I will need to expand the boundaries of my channel. For example, if someone views my channel after 5 years, it will still be of use to them. Another issue is that I have not considered making this my full-time work; I will not leave my current position to pursue a career in content creation; however, I do have a vision for a startup or some sort of venture in my mind. One thing I admire about startups is they build a habit of problem solving and teach you to deal with life; skills which are going to be useful in all fields.

Question 7: You have come a long way. Is there someone you would like to give credits to?

Answer: You must have predicted it; all credit belongs to my parents. Their support was plenty for me; I may not have demanded anything, but I knew I had their back in any situation. They never interfered with my money generating or time management, for example. Also, a special shout out to my brother Rohit, who has always been a great support. Also,  the all mighty Lord Krishna was my strength. I am a firm follower of him and I believe that I couldn't achieve anything without his support. Secondly, I'd like to recognise a handful of my team members who have worked tirelessly with me since the beginning of this wonderful trip. And, of course, I would like to give myself credit for all of my efforts. I've uploaded over 600 movies in the last 2.5 years, with an average of 5 per week.

Question 8: I believe, Start ups, Content Creation or vlogging have recently evolved and were not there if we look back to our childhood. So, when you came to college first in 2020, what did you want to become, have your aspirations changed now?

Answer: This is quite an interesting question. The pandemic had hit in 2020 and I remember that I had put in my blood, sweat and tears in academics in 12th, because it was my key to the outer world. I scored around 96.4 % in 12th. Somewhere in the back of my mind I had this thought of either going to the best college of DU or staying back in Sirsa, but ended up in Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. So coming back to aspirations, I was inclined towards business from the start. Joining societies exposed me towards what more fields I can create or go into and after a lot of hustle I grew into Content Creation and Business. I joined corporate to get a hold of how things actually work in the business world, how to source materials, generate a stable revenue and expand my network.
