Question 1: Can you please introduce yourself?
Answer 1: Hello, my name is Tanusha Arora. I was born and brought up in Delhi and come from a middle-class family. I completed my schooling at Prudence School, Ashok Vihar. I am from a commerce background and pursuing BMS (Business Management Studies) from Shaheed Sukhdev College after securing AIR 99 in DUET 2021. I am an optimistic person. I like talking to people and meeting new people; I am an extrovert. I enjoy leading, managing people, delegating tasks, and exploring and learning new things every day.
Question 2: Can you describe your journey as a LinkedIn-recognized leader?
Answer 2: My journey on LinkedIn started a year ago when I began writing to celebrate my achievement in my digital marketing course where I scored the first position. To thank my teachers and my batch, I wrote a post. Before that, I had reposted a post about underrated colleges at DU, where I shared my views. Both of these posts did well, receiving around 100 likes. As a new creator, 100-200 likes are a great deal. So, I started writing consistently about my daily life, my responsibilities in college events, and my experiences. I discovered that marketing is my niche, specifically marketing branding, communication, and public speaking. LinkedIn recognized me as a creator and invited me to the creator program, where I had the opportunity to get in touch with a mentor. Recently, LinkedIn featured my post in their news story about the rise of emotive marketing.
Question 3: What inspired you to participate in the haiku competition that you mentioned on your LinkedIn profile?
Answer 3: The competition was organized by the literary society of my college. I had never written a haiku before and didn't even know what it was. When I first wrote one, I found it very intriguing. Haiku is a form of Japanese short poetry, and for me, it was a challenging task that allowed me to learn something new. I learned about haiku by reading more about it, reading some sample haiku, and then writing my own. I ended up securing the 3rd position in the competition.
Question 4: What are your experiences with setbacks and failures in your journey?
Answer 4: I think failures and setbacks are a part of life. My life has been a roller coaster. When I entered college, I faced challenges and academic setbacks. I joined a heavy society which didn't allow me to maximize my potential. I decided to leave it after the first six months. In my second semester, I lost my father suddenly due to a heart attack. Within a week, I was back in college, fulfilling my responsibilities as a CR, hosting events, and studying for academics. After that my first semester results came out in which I didn't fare well but I persevered nevertheless and got an SGPA of 9.73 in sem 2 which continues to be my highest gpa.I continued to excel academically and took on more responsibilities. Recently, I secured a placement in a dream company. It's all about how you approach life. If life throws lemons at you, make lemonade. You just have to keep going.
Question 5: Who are the people who provide constant support for you?
Answer 5: My family, including my mother and brother, have always been there to support and encourage me. My close friends, a select few who always hype me up and remind me of my capabilities when I'm feeling low, have been instrumental in my journey. Most importantly, I have learned to be there for myself. I have supported and motivated myself on days when no one else was around. It's essential to understand that you are there for yourself every day.
Question 6: What are your future career plans or any milestones you aim to achieve?
Answer 6: At the moment, I don't have specific milestones in mind. I have a good company to work with next year, focusing on public policy and governance. I hope to make a positive impact and witness real change happening. I'm looking for a strong growth curve, always eager to learn and adapt. As for milestones, I'll discover them as I continue to learn and take on new challenges.
Question 7: Can you share a memorable educational experience that you are particularly proud of?
Answer 7: One of my proudest moments was participating in the CEO for One Month Challenge by Adecco, the world’s largest staffing services provider. I learned about it through a post by Ishita Arora from Hindu College, who had reached the India top 14 at Bangalore. She supported me when I applied the following year. I passed the quantitative, and cognitive assessments and made it to India's top 100 in December. I had to send a video to the CEO explaining why I should be the CEO for one month, and I made it to India's top 14. It was a memorable achievement for me, especially since I was the youngest among the 33,000 people who applied.
Question 8: What advice would you give to your fellow students looking to excel in their studies and make a positive impact?
Answer 8: My advice to everyone is to seek the right advisors. Often, we listen to advice from seniors and teachers, and the biggest pitfall is falling for the wrong advice. If a senior suggests that you don't need to study until two days before the exam, or that GPA doesn't matter, it's easy to fall for shortcuts. But there are no shortcuts to success. You can be smart in your approach, but being smart is different from taking shortcuts. I want young people to recognize the difference and understand that diligence and hard work are key to success. Quick fixes may work temporarily, but not in the long run. Learning comes after putting in the effort, so don't stop putting in the effort, stay positive, and life will yield beautiful results.
Question 9: What advice would you give to your younger self?
Answer 9: I would advise my younger self to stay the way I am; it will help.
Question 10: You mentioned the company you're about to join. Is it your dream company, and could you tell me about the companies you interned with?
Answer 10: Yes, it is my dream company. It works in the domain of governance consulting. I have approximately 7.5 months of internship experience. I interned at two companies. In both of my internships, I was paid well, making around 1 lakh. First, I interned at EXL, an IT consulting firm headquartered in NYC, where I worked in a research and market internship capacity. I was involved in research, understanding different stakeholders, meeting clients, and using various tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator for competitor analysis. It was an online role, and I worked there for six months. For my second internship, I worked at Havells for around 6 weeks. It was an offline internship, and I worked from 9 AM to 6 PM in the office. I worked as an e-commerce intern, focusing on developing a strategy for launching Havells' e-stores. I mapped the customer journey, conducted a SWOT analysis, and worked on email marketing strategies. I also conducted various analyses to identify areas where Havells could improve. The people at Havells were very supportive. My internship experiences have been enriching, and I've always had great mentors who encouraged me to strive for the best."
