Q. Tell us something about yourself.
Ans. I'm Sanchi Gulgani. I'm currently enrolled in Maitreyi College to pursue a B.A. in Economics with Honors. I reside in Vaishali, Ghaziabad. I'm a sports enthusiast. I play badminton daily during my free time. I also enjoy travelling, especially on long drives. With my family, I travelled by road to Leh Ladakh. My wish list includes visiting Northern India via road.
Q. What societies are you part of in college?
Ans. I've been part of NCC from the very start of college. I have not been a part of any other society because NCC requires time and discipline and so do the other societies. It would have been very difficult to manage both sides. Although I did give an audition for Riyaz, the Indian Music Society of Maitreyi, and cleared the 1st round, unfortunately, I couldn't make it in time for the 2nd one.
Q. Other than academics, what else have you been doing lately?
Ans. I'm going to appear in GMAT 2023. I also attend seminars and workshops about business startups. They go on and off. My connections in corporate help me with that.
Q. What is your Start-Up all about?
Ans. The first startup I'm talking about is Evion Industries Pvt Ltd which is a safety garment manufacturing unit. My father was in the trading unit of the same. We were a supply channel to a lot of brands for about 25 yrs. Then COVID hit and things went south from there. So my father and I decided to start our manufacturing unit. We manufacture the jackets used by construction workers or the airport staff. Our USB is providing our clients with safety clothing in any colour shade required with no MOQ. We deliver these jackets to PAN India and across the globe.
Q. What is the other start-up?
Ans. It's a home bakery. That's a partnership between my sister and me. She is a certified Baker. I work there for sales and supply purposes. That is the main area of focus. We started this business in March 2022. We focus on creating a platform that provides people both with health and taste. We focus on making gluten-free and sugar-free bakery items affordable to customers. We plan on taking bulk orders in the wedding season. Also, we have delivered orders in the area close by.
Q. How have these startups helped you?
Ans. I have seen a drastic change in my personality as a part of both startups. I have learnt management skills, leadership skills and communication skills. When I am in a seminar sitting with such experienced minds, I get to learn a lot of new things. While I am a part of two very different seminars I also have to manage my academics and my personal life. I think I have learnt the art of managing things quite well though there's still a long way to go. It does get difficult sometimes. I couldn't find any MBA coaching classes that had flexible timings and to manage that along with everything I joined Unacademy. I take these small steps to follow up with the things going around.
Q. What are your actual career plans?
Ans. I will be continuing with my startups only. Doing an MBA will help in developing better skills and I want to inculcate skills that will help the betterment of my startups. I might do a job for a year or two but that too for experience purposes. I want my start-ups to touch the skies.
Q. Any advice for entrepreneurs?
Ans. From my experience, I would say that practical knowledge of the working of things is really important. Once you have an understanding of the practical working of a certain thing, processing the theoretical part becomes much easier. I would suggest everyone do internships and attend seminars. It helps you understand the various aspects of things.
