1.Hi, tell us something about yourself?
I am Riya Aggarwal, first year student at Maitreyi College and I am pursuing Economics
honors. I am a young entrepreneur and the owner of the company "Riding Rangers”
I am a very passionate and ambitious girl. From a very young age, I was much more involved
in and inclined towards extra-curricular activities like debate and dance and it is the reason I joined Zeal, the western dance society of our college.
2.You're the founder of Riding Rangers. Tell us what it revolves around and how and
when'd you come to start it?
During lockdown, we weren't able to arrange certain essential medicines for our dog. It was
then I started realizing that if I was facing this problem, then other people will also be facing the same problem. Therefore I started Riding Rangers, a hyper-local delivery company in Delhi, NCR.
We started cold calling various companies, the very first company we collaborated with was
Kennel kitchen, a dog product company. We arranged the E- passes with the help of Maneka Gandhi, politician, animal rights activist and environmentalist. We collaborated with various NGOs and worked with people serving the animals. We also helped in the foster and
adoption of puppies and the cats who were suffering. Our company has now expanded in
Mumbai and Bangalore but the main setup is still in Delhi NCR.
3. What would you say was your main source of inspiration for starting Riding
Rangers?
I always wanted to start something of my own. As soon as my class 12th board
examinations got over government announced lockdown. Everyday I was reading articles
about how people and animals were suffering and especially how small businesses were
being negatively affected. I along with my friend started a hyperlocal delivery service (Riding Rangers) in Delhi NCR in which we directly tied up with companies to deliver their products the same day. My main inspiration for starting the company was the support from my family and my love for animals.
4. You won the title of Young Entrepreneur 2020 alongside many other awards. Share
your thoughts during this and the experience you take from it?
I got a call from Indian Express for an interview. There were many success stories published in the newspaper about MNC's and other big profile highly invested companies. I was pleased and delighted to see the name of our company. What amazed me was that our
customers recommended our name to the newspaper. That's when I felt a sense of
satisfaction that we are being able to create a difference by helping people. We got a call
from Indian Achiever and received the Best Young entrepreneur award. It has been a great
journey till now and the government of India has helped me a lot during the pandemic.
This is once in a lifetime experience and it has been a roller coaster ride for me. Meeting new people, managing clients, managing workers, accounting, risks, time
boundation, commitment, business ideas and growth has given me a lot of
experience and a chance to be better each day.
5.Do you intend to carry forward with this as your future career or do you've other
plans such as expansion or something different in mind?
I want to run many businesses at the same time, for that I need a strong and successful
foundation which I have achieved through Riding Rangers. Till now we have tied up with
75+companies in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore, including the biggest companies like HUFT, milk basket and farming v2.We helped hundreds of people in mid lockdown to
transport their pets to the vet and served daily meals to corona patients. We have also
helped many small businesses in raising their market and this is what I want to continue
moving forward. I have recently started with an e-commerce business as well so I am still
exploring a lot and I want to do everything that I possibly can.
6. How much of a role has your family, college and friends played in achieving your
achievements?
I received an enormous amount of support from my parents and my dad helped me a lot
with accounts. There were some low moments along the way but it was my family who
supported me throughout the journey. Their trust and unconditional love gave me strength to work hard and move forward.
7. What would you like to tell your peers for them to feel inspired and driven towards
achieving something extraordinary?
I would say work hard and smart for the need of current world rather than for fame and
money. For a successful start-up or company one of the important factors is having a unique selling proposition. Unless you highlight the USP, consumers will not be tempted to buy your product. Also academics is not the only measure of an individual's capacity cause everyone is born with the potential to do extraordinary in life.
