Kartik Agarwal| Founder, DU Connect| Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Batch of 2022

1)You are the founder of "DU Connect". What is DU connect and why did you feel the need to start this community?

In the first year of college, I and my friend Vikram, while enjoying ice tea near the shack overheard some students talking about the problems they faced while taking admissions at DU. That's when we realized about issues and complications pertaining to admissions and accommodations. In addition, there was confusion related to societies, projects and internships. That's when we decided to build a platform that addresses all the student needs and facilitate their holistic development. DU Connect is aggregating partners to solve the problems pertaining to accommodations, education, merchandise, home utilities and books.

2) DU connect parents another community called the Blue Leaves Community. Tell us about the same.

In February 2021 we acquired another micro student start-up named Blue Leaves Community. BLC is all about helping students get information about competitions, webinars, internships, projects and courses at their fingertips. We are a Community of 15000+ members. The community also indulges in providing marketing solutions to different institutions.

3) How far spread is your reach through DU connect?

Since its inception, we have impacted more than 1,50,000+ students, solved 30,000+ student queries, garnered a base of 20,000+ followers and generated revenue of Rs 5,00,000+. We have also organized 20+ Mentorship Tracks, Digital Marketing Summer Camp, Case Crack, DU Connect Case Challenge and collaborated with organizations like Cases for Change, Ojaswini Seva Society and contributed significantly towards the society during the 2nd wave of Covid-19.

4) Do you wish to continue with the community that you've created in the future and expand them?

Certainly, yes. The idea is to expand our offerings pan-India and subsequently work on increasing our service line. Currently, we are very much niche to Delhi University so we are thinking to make it global.

5) Who've been your biggest source of inspiration in starting DU Connect and Blue Leaves Community?

My biggest source of inspiration in starting DU Connect is my father. I've seen him establish his business from scratch. I admire Sam Altmann, Elon Musk, Brian Chesky, Jeff Bezos, Ratan Tata, Kunal Shah, and Mukesh Ambani to name a few.

6) What are your career plans and are they in line with what you're doing now?

I passionately pursue learning more about the Startup ecosystem, finance and public policy. I might end up pursuing higher studies in these fields and simultaneously growing & building DU Connect and Blue Leaves Community.

7) What would you tell your peers who aspire to achieve something extraordinary?

I'd tell people to be humble. Show empathy towards one another. Secondly, have a dedicated time in a day to work upon skill development. Last, be consistent with whatever you do.
