Question 1: Kindly brief us about yourself.
Answer: Hi my name is Kanishk Mahajan and I’m currently pursuing BCom Hons from SRCC. After scoring 94.4% in my 10th boards I wanted to perform better in my 12th grade. Unlike most toppers. I selected commerce stream and got 98.4% in 12th boards. I wasn't planning on giving the CUET exams but due to my parents I went for the exam. I achieved a score of 784 in my CUET exams which led me to SRCC.
Question 2: What was your experience of getting the award by our honorable Prime Minister for your performance on Pariksha Pe Charcha?
Answer: I didn't actually prepare for the exam and just went along with what my heart told me. The topic was ‘How do you see India in the year 2047?’. I participated in the Pariksha Pe Charcha contest during my pre-boards and then the certificate came to my home by post. It was written by the Prime Minister of India and I still feel that sense of surprise and pride whenever I talk about it.
Question3: How do you manage your time effectively between excelling in academics and taking part in extracurricular activities?
Answer: I get this question very often! So when I was in school I used to give many competitive exams like Olympiads . The key to managing the time is I used to fix my timings like giving 2 hours for that competition. I would devote my time to the allotted slots either for my boards studies or my competitive exams and it would help me achieve my targets.
Question 4 : Any particular setback or obstacle would you like to share that you experienced in your journey and how did you tackle it?
Answer: There were many setbacks I faced. The first was when I was in school I didn't score very good marks and other was that people often thought that commerce students were not that intelligent so there was a social backing to this side. So to tackle these, for my academics I used to think that if science has IIT then management also has IIM and I found out information about this college. For society just remember one thing “People’s opinions don't matter. Do what you heart says” and this was the motto I used to believe
Question5: What study techniques or routines do you find most effective for your learning?
Answer: According to me, time tables are not that beneficial and it's more time consuming because by making a time table you are forced to study the allotted subject. I would say rather go for fixing small targets that are achievable and if you can finish that target you are good to go.
Question6: What roles do you think parents, teachers and friends play in one’s success?
Answer: You’ll find both kinds of teachers. Some will be your support system and truly mentor you while some will indirectly or directly demotivate you. Also, never disrespect them in any case because they have seen the world more than any of us. The same goes for the parents as well. They will support you in your good decisions but will also scold you in bad ones. You should keep your views to them but in the end they are our elders ,so you should listen to them and respect them. If you find a friend, who motivates you, thinks good for you and who wants to see you succeed then I would say they are your true friends.
Question7: What is the one takeaway from your journey so far you think has really shaped you?
Answer: I would say never stop dreaming. People often undermine themselves and think they stand nowhere in this cut throat competition. But the thing is if you dream something then you can definitely achieve it so this is the takeaway I would give to anyone.
Question8; What are the habits you think helps in acing any exam or in our daily life?
Answer: This habit of mine is very different and it's that I don’t panic or get stressed during problems . I have seen many students getting tense before exams or any problem. I will say one thing, while leaving for exams, leave all your study materials along with all your worries at home and go fresh minded because half of the problems get solved when you are stress free so that is the mantra I follow.
Question9: What are your future goals and what do you advise students who want to excel academically?
Answer: I haven’t planned anything for my future right now but I would pursue something further in BCom honors only. For the students who want to do better academically, my advice is ‘just keep being consistent.’ Keep on doing better and don’t procrastinate and leave the work for the next day as it will burden you more. I would like to quote something I recently read, “Keep doing things which will make your next day easier than today.”
