Question 1: Kindly brief us about yourself.
Answer: Greetings, I am Anjali Devi, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in History at Maitreyi College. I have completed my schooling from Jammu. One remarkable transformation in my life has been YouTube. Initially, I was a shy person, never considering the possibility of becoming a content creator. However, I discovered that I felt surprisingly at ease in front of the camera and started presenting myself to the virtual world. This has been both surprising and empowering, allowing me to embrace a side of myself that I never knew existed.
Question 2: What inspired you to start creating content on YouTube or even on any other social media platform?
Answer: To be very honest, the primary motive was earning money. Additionally, both my friend and sister played a pivotal role in my journey. They were the ones who strongly recommended that I initiate a YouTube channel. Hailing from a very small and backward area, I understand the value of money. In this new environment, I've come to realise the importance of financial stability and the opportunities it can bring. It's been an eye-opening journey.
Question 3: What are the challenges that you faced in your journey of content creation?
Answer: One of the most significant challenges faced by content creators is the criticism and negativity as their viewership grows. Fortunately, I remain motivated in these situations as well. I seek support from my friends, whose encouragement always boosts my determination.
Question 4: How did you figure out in which area you want to make your content?
Answer: Initially I had no idea, I just started out of nowhere. I just shot whatever I did in a day. But now, since I like listening to podcasts, I'm thinking of starting podcasts and I want to interview my college folks. I sincerely hope it will work out.
Question 5: Do you remember when you first hit your 10k or 50k subscribers. How did it feel to achieve such a milestone?
Answer: I have recorded the dates of achieving significant subscriber milestones, marking memorable moments in my journey as a content creator. My elder sister and my mother both have kept records of me attaining a certain number of followers. Initially unfamiliar with social media, I only used platforms like Instagram when I entered college, primarily for involvement in college societies. These cherished memories continue to shape my digital narrative.
Question 6: You're pursuing your bachelor's and your passion for content creation altogether. How do you manage your time?
Answer: As I have three more years before returning to my hometown, time management has become crucial. Posting one to two videos weekly is affordable for me and video editing consumes one to two hours per video, allowing me to balance my academic commitments with content creation seamlessly.
Question 7: What are the skills and qualities that you think one should have in achieving success in a particular field?
Answer: I'm still not an expert in this field but I firmly believe that one should be honest with the audience and show them the real you. Since I'm a blogger, I share insights of my daily life. My parents are not very comfortable with being on camera, so it is just my sister who is featured in my blogs. I believe that if you are true and transparent to the audience, they will feel more connected to you.
Question 8: How do you see failures and setbacks in your journey? What are your opinions about that?
Answer: I'm quite emotional and sensitive, often affected by minor inconvenience. However, I'm fortunate to have people in my life who provide invaluable emotional support. Additionally, I find solace in my faith, believing that God's constant presence offers support during challenging times.
Question 9: What is the one thing that you would do differently, if you have to do your content creation now ?
Answer: I'd like to start my podcast channels. After returning from vacation, I contemplated starting my podcast channel. As we have our juniors with us, I want to interview them. Let's hope for the best. I might also start my study blogs, as after my graduation I'll be preparing for UPSC.
Question 10: What are your future career plans or any milestone that you've to achieve?
Answer: One ultimate goal for me is preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. I consider activities like blogging and others as temporary pursuits but clearing UPSC is my major goal.
Question 11: What would you like to advise people on this journey?
Answer: Humans are not perfect right? I myself am at a stage where I seek guidance. But I would like to say that be consistent and committed to whatever task you take. As a content creator, being consistent is the only key. Overall, you’ll enjoy this journey only if you are dedicated enough and trust the process.
